The Palisades Recreation Center basketball league finished its season on Sunday by crowning five league champions, with several games coming right down to the wire.
In the Girls Majors (11-13) division, the Fever held off the Liberty in a defensive struggle, 17-14, capping a magnificent season with a 10-1 record. The game was the Fever’s fourth of the season against Liberty, with the Fever winning three and all four contests being decided by three points or less.
Coached by Ed Stwart and Kirk Wendorf, the Fever were led by Alyssa Hachmann, Clementine Houghton, Kiley McKay, Leyla Messian, Ilaria Stewart, Malia Verge and Annie Wendorf.
Elsewhere, the Nuggets edged the Grizzlies, 33-30, to win the Boys Minors (9-10) division, while the Boys Majors division was won by the Magic, who finished their season 12-1 by defeating the Bulls, 65-36. The Girls Minors was won by the Cowgirls, who defeated the Lynx, 17-6.
The Panthers won the Boys Bantam (7-8) division by defeating the Red Storm, 24-15, while the Tigers captured the Girls Bantam division with an 18-10 victory over the Tar Heels.
