Palisadian photographer Chuck Larsen caught the magic moment when birds and humans fell silent for two minutes around 10:20 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 22. Larsen said the pain and expense of finding a good position in Mitchell, Oregon—899 miles north of home—was “absolutely” worth it and he cannot wait for the next total eclipse in 2024.
