Knowing the varsity had a huge game next, the Palisades High JV football team sought to set the tone of the day from the outset in its nonleague battle with Reseda.
The Dolphins (3-1) got Hugo Anoh the ball early and often and he scored two touchdowns in less than four minutes to get the fans at Stadium by the Sea buzzing, then Chris Washington plowed across the goal line to make it 20-0 late in the first quarter.
Palisades recovered a fumble at the Reseda 40-yard line on the first play of the second quarter and three plays later Max North burst 25 yards up the middle for another score and Amari Yolas returned an interception 86 yards to make it 36-0 and give his mom Annette, watching proudly from the stands, a birthday present.
Reseda avoided the shutout with a touchdown eight seconds before halftime and threatened to score again with 10:20 left in the game but the Dolphins held inside their 1-yard line. Two plays later, Maurice Burgess raced 97 yards for the Dolphins’ last touchdown, making the final score 42-6.
