S. Jennifer Grant, aka Merrily Schwichtenberg, passed away peacefully on May 19 in Pacific Palisades, age 63.
Daughter of Norman and Mary Schwichtenberg, she was a life long resident of Pacific Palisades. Jennifer graduated from Palisades High in 1973, attended Santa Monica College from 1975-77 and Pepperdine University from 1977-79. She was a certified chaplin, earned a paralegal degree from UCLA and was awarded a master’s degree in Christian counseling.
Jennifer worked in media and published a wide variety of articles on topics ranging from pro surfing to the conditions of the poor in Brazil. Her volunteer work included crisis counseling, hospital chaplaincy and pro bono work at Santa Monica Municipal Court.
She enjoyed outdoor activities including tennis and swimming. Jennifer was an avid international traveler, especially to Hawaii and Portugal.
She was a dedicated Christian and is survived by her aunt, Betty Huffman, brothers, Bradd (Donna) and Paul Schwichtenberg (Jano), sister, Melody Underwood, three nieces and four nephews.
