Palisades High boys basketball assistant coach Kris Johnson confirmed Friday afternoon that 6-foot-7 junior forward Ron Artest III has transferred to Beverly Hills High.
The son of Pali High girls assistant coach and Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace, Artest III recorded five doubles doubles while helping the Dolphins to 15 wins and the No. 1 seed in the LA City Section Division I playoffs as a sophomore last season.
“Ron has officially checked out of school but my staff and I will continue to help him in any way we can,” Dolphins head coach Vejas Anaya told the Post Saturday morning.
Anaya said Ron’s younger brother Jeron, a sophomore on varsity, will remain at Palisades and that Metta World Peace has been “nothing but positive.”
Artest is familiar with the Swim Gym at Bevery Hills, having played there in the Beverly Hills Tournament last season. The Normans went 26-6 en route to winning the CIF Southern Section Division 3A championship last season under head coach Jarvis Turner.
