July 13, 1921 – July 14, 2017
Robert “Bob” Revere Eiermann was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to Frank Robert Eiermann and Blanche Karr Eiermann.
An interest in STEM subjects led to his being selected to attend Brooklyn Technical High School where he was an active participant in intramurals, school clubs and other organizations. After graduation, Bob served in the Army, stateside, during World War II.
While stationed in Florida, he met Stella Henrietta Pederson of Wilmar, Minnesota. They married in March 1945 and had two daughters, Susan and Lynda.
After his discharge, they moved back to New York and lived in Queens. Through the GI Bill, he earned an engineering degree in electrical engineering at Brooklyn Polytechnic, now a part of NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
In 1955 he and the family were moved to California by Hughes Aircraft Company. He worked at the Culver City facility and for the aerospace division for 30 years until his retirement. During that time, he had the opportunity to observe a satellite launch at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
When the family moved to California they lived in Mar Vista and then in 1963 moved to Pacific Palisades where he and Stella spent the rest of their years. After retirement, Bob was active with the Palisades Garden Club, where Stella was president.
He enjoyed photography and won a few awards. He was especially talented at photographing Stella’s beautiful orchids, as well as other flowers in their garden. For many years of his retirement, Bob was active in a computer club as well as the Planetary Society, and spent time working on the family genealogy.
Family was important to Bob and he was a strong provider and supporter of his wife and daughters. When he finished with the service, he earned his degree in the evening while working during the day.
There were always family trips and opportunities for the girls to learn about the United States as they drove across country to their new home in California, and later visited the national parks and California missions. Bob always had his camera out to document family trips and activities.
Stella predeceased him. He leaves a sister, Norma Burton of Long Island, NY, daughters Lynda Eiermann and Susan Eiermann Olson (husband Jami), granddaughter Kristin Olson Mundy (husband Kyle), grandson Jonathan Olson (wife Avery), and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Reese Olson.
