Community members are invited to attend a Regional Public Safety Fair on Saturday, June 10, hosted by CD 11 Councilmember Traci Park, Pacific Palisades Community Council, Brentwood Community Council and YMCA.
The fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Simon Meadow—located at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Temescal Canyon Road.
The event is being held in honor of June being National Safety Month, designed to boost awareness and readiness in emergency situations.
“The safety of our community is our top priority, and this fair is a step forward in ensuring that,” Park said to the Palisadian-Post. “This is a great chance to learn from our local experts about safety precautions and emergency preparedness.”
The departments and organizations taking part in the event include PPCC, BCC, YMCA, Los Angeles Fire Department—including Station 69—the Brush Clearance Unit, Los Angeles Police Department, Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness, Resilient Palisades, Palisades Forestry Committee, American Legion Ronald Reagan – Palisades Post 283, Office of LAUSD Board Member Nick Melvoin, Office of State Senator Ben Allen and Office of LA County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath.
“The fair will provide an excellent opportunity for friends and families to connect with experts from community organizations and city departments,” according to a press release. “Attendees will gain valuable knowledge on how to keep themselves and their loved ones safe during emergencies.”
PPCC Chair Maryam Zar told the Post planning began in late April for the “comprehensive safety fair.”
“CD 11 has always been responsive to our concerns … so when they approached us to collaborate on a safety fair, I immediately reached out to the YMCA [Executive Director] Jim Kirtley and asked if we could use Simon Meadow,” Zar said. “Once that was approved, we started working together to make sure we would bring together the right Palisadian organizations, as well as important public safety agencies that we wanted to make sure were present.
“PPCC will have an information table, and we are looking forward to it. This is our 50th anniversary year, so we are eager to meet new people and bring new volunteers into the organization. I hope everyone stops by.”
The event is free and welcome to all. Attendees are encouraged to bring their friends and family.
