The Pacific Palisades Baseball Association’s 8U All-Stars got off to a promising start over Father’s Day weekend, winning three of their four games to take second out of 11 teams in their first official tournament in Redondo Beach.
Coaches David Hoffman, Brad Hill, Donald Moore and Eric Foster guided the homegrown Pinto squad to a 7-3 victory over Torrance Tsunami, a 6-5 triumph over South Bay Gold and a 5-4 win against Seal Beach before falling to East Long Beach 10-4 in the championship game.
Last weekend the local 8Us started the official Pony Sanctions tournament and advanced through to the Super Region pool stage in Moreno Valley. Palisades made it to the regional final and was one of three teams to advance into the next round.
The 8U roster consisted of Will Hill, Sam Foster, Wil Hoffman, Blake Milinovich, Henry Wyman, Perrish McGinn, Dayton Matkins, Maxwell Yost, Isaac Ungerleider, Foster Badt, Rhys Scheflen, Remy Moore and Jackson Moore.
The double-elimination Super Region playoffs began Wednesday.
PPBA’s 9U and 11U All-Stars also began Pony tournament action last week. The 9Us did not move on, but the 11U team did.
