The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club is still a month away, but many of the PGA TOUR’s best golfers have already circled the event on their calendars. As of Jan. 4, in fact, seven of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Rankings had already committed to the 2022 tournament field. Joining defending champion and Los Angeles native Max Homa on the list of early commitments are 2021 runner-up Tony Finau, past champions Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson and James Hahn, major winners Collin Morikawa, Hideki Matsuyama, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas and Francesco Molinari, reigning Olympic gold medalist Xander Schauffele and defending FedExCup champion Patrick Cantlay.
Players have until Feb. 11 to commit to the L.A. tour stop, which will be held from Feb. 17-20. The event tees off with a Collegiate Showcase on Feb. 14, followed by practice rounds Feb. 15 and a Pro-Am on Feb. 16.
Volunteer registration is now open and tickets must be purchased in advance on the website at genesisinvitational.com. Riviera first hosted the event in 1929 and has hosted it for all but two years since 1973.
