A chance at history awaited Paul Revere Middle School’s girls soccer team last Tuesday when it traveled to Los Angeles to take on Marlborough. When the final whistle blew, history was made.
The local squad (grades 6-8) capped off an undefeated season with a 2-0 triumph to win its first Junior Delphic League championship, scoring twice in the second half against a team out to avenge a 5-0 loss earlier in the season.
Revere rolled through league action, outscoring the opposition 24-4 to earn a bye into the championship game, but found itself tied 0-0 at halftime. Coach Mele French said the game would be won by the team that wanted it more. Mechal Green scored off a throw-in for the first goal, Van Buck added an insurance goal on a chip shot in the closing minutes and Jaya Babber was steady in goal. Madeline Grover was named Most Valuable Player.
Also contributing throughout the team’s championship run were Shawna Ashley, Anna Bartle, Camryn Fishman, Erica Hamilton, Ella Kraynak, Dom Kubik, Elise Larsson, Ava Loos, Kyra Morris, Giada Musumeci, Caroline Quigley, Sawyer Ramberg, Cece Tierney, Jules Walsh and Alix Levy.
