Patricia “Patti” Ann Bothell, 82 years young, passed away in Newport Beach on April 11, 2017, under the beautiful full “Pink Moon” of springtime.
Patti is survived by her children: Jeff Morris (Lucy), Jennifer Donahue (Michael), Genevieve Perrault (Rick) and Bill Morris. Her grandchildren, Brian and Christine Donahue, Nicole Perrault, Sean and Nathan Matthews, will greatly miss their “fun grandma.” Very close to her family, she attended many events to support them and to cheer them on.
Patti married Bill Morris and raised four children in Pacific Palisades and Brentwood. She was an active volunteer with her children’s activities at Brentwood Elementary School and Paul Revere Charter Middle School, the Brentwood Youth House as Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, and WLA Little League. They attended Brentwood Presbyterian Church where the children were active in Kirk Club.
Patti re-married to Don Bothell. They kept four children busy with boating, water-skiing and other activities. They were gracious hosts, and their awesome parties were much anticipated. More often than not, Patti’s dear mother Genevieve, AKA “Gram,” was with them. Many lasting memories were made by the fire pit and during barbeques. Paddle tennis and volleyball games for their teenage children were frequent, and friends were always welcomed.
A fun, vivacious, kind and generous person, Patti had many dear friendships. She was involved in various groups, was a natural-born leader, talented, tenacious and quick-witted. She was a winning champion on “Jeopardy” and “Queen for a Day.” She was strikingly beautiful and worked as a fashion model for many years.
Later she went into the business world, worked at Pan Am during the heyday and won the “Clipper Award” for her achievements. The travel perks afforded Patti and Don fabulous “first class” trips. She later worked at Technicolor, started a temporary employment agency and then a travel agency.
Patti had a competitive spirit and loved games. She became involved with Newport Harbor Elks Lodge. She volunteered and co-chaired philanthropic events and served as a trustee and officer. Patti enjoyed seeing friends there and attending the social events. The most recent party attended was New Year’s Eve 2016.
Patti will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for her infectious spirit, her enthusiastic dance moves and positive attitude.
