It is with deep regret that we share with you the passing of Patricia Ann Scott, our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She graced this world from June 15, 1936, to November 28. Patricia is survived by her husband Tom Scott and her five children: Pam, Mark, Claudia, Patrick (Sylvia) and Alicia; and her five grandchildren: Stephanie Sargent, Kernan McIntyre, Liam McIntyre, Joseph Navarro and Justin Stewart-Lang.
She was the only child of Joseph and Katherine (Ginny) Nolan who resided in New York City before relocating to California in the 1930s. Joe met Ginny when he was an usher at Radio City Music Hall where Ginny was a member of the famous dance troupe The Rockettes.
Patricia was born in West Los Angeles, and the family later moved to Pacific Palisades where she spent the better part of the next 50 years of her life. Patricia attended University High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, David Lee McIntyre, with whom she had her first two children.
Patricia’s second marriage was to David Ernest Stewart which saw the beginnings of what would become a modern-day “Brady Bunch” family. With the birth of their daughter and the addition of Dave’s daughters from a previous marriage, it quickly became a home to five kids. The family grew up on Muskingum Avenue, the same street to our four McIntyre cousins. It was a magical time and place.
Patricia was also a local businesswoman who owned and operated Appledore Beauty Supply on Swarthmore Avenue, next to Mort’s Deli. She also owned and operated Creative Cleaning and worked in real estate. Patricia’s greatest gift was her artistic talents. She was an accomplished painter, sculpture and potter and had a beautiful singing voice. She had a natural talent for any medium she touched. She was an excellent cook and avid animal lover, which led to a stable of cats (Malibu, Lion, Marnie, Hobbs, Gilda and Sophie) throughout the kids’ and her lifetime. She loved taking photos, doing arts and crafts, and making things for the home.
Patricia met and married her current husband Thomas Toles Scott in the late 1980s, and they were married for nearly 30 years. They relocated to Ventura County in 2009 where she spent the remainder of her life enjoying the views of the ocean and their favorite hobby, exploring garage sales and thrift stores. They often visited Morro Bay, which was her favorite vacation destination.
A celebration of life will be held on January 22, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura, California. In her memory, please make a donation to “A Place to Bark” in Patricia’s name.
