Patricia Ann Gemmell passed away peacefully and of natural causes at the age of 83 while resting in her favorite chair in her home on April 9.
Originally from Rockford, Illinois, she raised her children in Pacific Palisades and resided in Santa Monica for the past 10 years.
She leaves behind a legacy set by her example of common courtesy, human kindness and love for all.
Her Bible study group at Palisades Lutheran Church say that she had an inspired sparkle in her beautiful blue eyes and a strong sense of humor that underscored her deep faith in God.
Her neighbors explain the community that blossomed around her as she listened with care, offering a non-judgmental and inclusive open heart that made all feel welcome and understood.
She leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law, Richard C. and Gina Wahlgren, a daughter, Michelle Wahlgren, and three adult grandchildren, Erica and Christopher Wahlgren and Jennifer Regan.
She was thoughtful, happy, healthy, filled with the light and love of God, and closely connected to family and friends until the very end.
She joins her husband Don Gemmell, who preceded her in death 22 years prior.
The family will be having a memorial in Los Angeles at the Palisades Lutheran Church in May and another in Rockford in August. For information, contact 818-600-4480.
Remembrances can be made in her honor to the Palisades Lutheran Church.
