Making television is hard work, but some people have to do it. Those involved in the best and brightest programs have been recognized with 2018 Emmy nominations, topping off a remarkable year in entertainment.
Actors Samira Wiley and Ryan Eggold announced the nominees on Thursday, July 12, at the Saban Media Center in North Hollywood.
Palisadian nominees include Bill Hader for acting in, writing and directing HBO’s “Barry,” which he co-created with Alec Berg. As one of the leaders this year, “Barry” has 13 Emmy nominations overall.
Hader is also nominated for guest acting in “Saturday Night Live,” where his performance career began. As these nominations complement the work Hader does in independent film, his status as a versatile performer and filmmaker has been cemented.
Laura Dern, who won an Emmy for “Big Little Lies” last year, is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for “The Tale.”
Larry David is nominated for “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” currently in its ninth season. He competes against his friend Ted Danson for “The Good Place.”
Among the Best Drama nominees is “Westworld,” executive produced by Palisadian J.J. Abrams. The series has 21 nominations, surpassed only by “Game of Thrones.”
Dan Castellaneta is nominated for the various voices he does in “The Simpsons,” including Homer. Castellaneta’s prolific career includes “Hey, Arnold!” and “Rugrats.”
The Palisadian-Post congratulates every nominee.
Tune into the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, Sept. 17, hosted by “SNL” players Michael Che and Colin Jost, and broadcast on NBC from the Microsoft Theater.
