Weeks after the Woolsey fire burned over 96,000 acres across neighboring cities like Thousand Oaks and Malibu, Palisadian Natalie Caine took it upon herself to create a safe space for victims and survivors to discuss their experience and how they were affected.
On Saturday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. Caine will host a free support gathering at the Palisades Village Swarthmore Room for community members and anyone affected by the fire to share their experience.
An independent insurance adjuster, Nick Cavalluzzi, will also be in attendance to answer any questions and offer advice on how to deal with the loss of a home.
“I’ve been in a flood, I’ve been in a fire … I know what it feels like to be in that moment of ‘pack up and go,’” said Caine, who has been receiving a positive response to her idea of having a “safe place to say how you are and [talk about] what happened.”
Any and all members of the affected communities, including Palisadians who were on the verge of evacuation, are invited with no RSVP required.
“You heal more when you can share your story,” said Caine.
She will be hosting a follow-up group in the near future for those who are not able to attend the first or who really connected from the group.
The Swarthmore Room is located at 15225 Palisades Village Lane.
