As summer vacation comes to a close, the Palisadian-Post has welcomed two fall interns who will be assisting with writing and editing over the next few months.
Lauren Fuchs
My name is Lauren Fuchs and I am a junior at Brentwood School. I have been a Palisades resident my entire life and have grown up reading the Palisadian-Post.
My love for journalism began in the summer of 2020 after taking an introduction to journalism class with the School of The New York Times. I quickly discovered that journalism was a path I wanted to pursue.
Eager to learn and write more, I joined my high school’s newspaper and now serve as a section editor on it. In my free time, I write independently and am currently exploring the realm of personal essays. I also write articles related to teenage well-being for the mental health website I co-founded.
Although I enjoy experimenting in all areas of journalism, my favorite stories to research and write fall into the news, opinion and features categories. While writing my articles, I strive to connect with people of all different backgrounds and bring their stories to light. I believe that there is such power in uplifting voices and perspectives that are often overlooked through journalistic writing.
Aside from the Post, I love reading the New York Times and listening to their daily podcast: “The Daily.”
I am so excited to be a part of the team behind the Post. I hope to grow my skills as an aspiring journalist with this internship and get a taste of a real newsroom environment. I look forward to connecting with fellow Palisadians while conducting interviews and writing about all things Palisades.
Julia Abbott
My name is Julia Abbott, and I am very excited to be interning with the Palisadian-Post! However, my roots in Pacific Palisades go farther back.
I go to Palisades Charter High School and work in the Village. Palisades Branch Library has been a highlight of my week since childhood.
The Palisades is such a wonderful community and beautiful place, inside and out. It’s truly been a privilege to grow up here. Some of my favorite places include the beach and the Village. When I’m not swimming in the ocean or gardening, I can be found at Noah’s Bagels.
Journalism has always been an important part of my life. My father has always preferred physical newspapers, so the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Post were often found on our kitchen counter. Events unfold in newspapers before they are recorded in history textbooks.
Even as a child, I sensed the importance of the written word. Since then, I’ve written various articles for multiple publications. Newspapers, especially local newspapers, are the core of their communities.
The Post has done so much good in the Palisades, and I’m lucky to contribute. However I can, I hope to bring a new perspective. When I’m older, I’d like to pursue a career in journalism.
It’s incredibly exciting to work with the Post and report on the multitude of topics I’m passionate about. Be it talking to local business owners or reporting on schools in the Palisades, know I’m here to report the news as genuinely as I can.
