Palisadian Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to the slasher genre and reprising her role for the last time for the final installment of the Halloween trilogy: “Halloween Ends.”
In David Gordon Green’s 2018 horror movie “Halloween,” Curtis played Laurie Strode, who confronted her long-time enemy, Michael Myers. The film is a direct sequel to the 1978 John Carpenter cult-classic, and the masked figure continued to haunt her since she narrowly escaped a killing spree on Halloween night decades before.
When the franchise relaunched, the film earned more than $250 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing chapter in the franchise and setting a new record for the biggest opening weekend in history for a horror film starring a woman, according to the film’s website.
“After 45 years, the most acclaimed, revered horror franchise in film history reaches its epic, terrifying conclusion as Laurie Strode faces off for the last time against the embodiment of evil, Michael Myers,” according to a synopsis of the film. “In a final confrontation unlike any captured on-screen before … only one of them will survive.”
The film is set to take place four years after the events of last year’s “Halloween Kills.” Strode is living with her granddaughter Alyson and finishing her memoir, embracing a calmer life. Things begin to take a turn for the worse when a young man is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, forcing Strode to confront the evil that surrounds her.
“The 2018 movie and ‘Kills’ were about a woman who was prepared for Michael every day of her life,” Curtis said to Syfy about the film. “This is a movie where she’s actually trying to move on, and then Michael comes back.”
Curtis—who has portrayed Strode for over four decades, making for one of the longest actor-character pairings in cinematic history—is joined by Will Patton as Officer Frank Hawkins, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace and James Jude Courtney as The Shape.
“Halloween Kills” is anticipated to be released on Friday, October 14, in theaters and on Peacock Premium streaming service.
