The yearly countdown is winding down as Fourth of July quickly approaches.
The Palisades Americanism Parade Association announced that Giada De Laurentiis will lead this year’s parade as Grand Marshal.
De Laurentiis, a Palisadian, is an Emmy Award-winning television personality of Food Network’s “Everyday Italian” and “Giada at Home.” She is also a judge on “Food Network Star” and a correspondent on NBC’s “Today Show.”
Giada told PAPA that she is “proud to lead her hometown parade this year.”
This year marks the 69th annual Pacific Palisades Fourth of July Parade, with the theme “Palisades on Parade.”
Longtime community volunteers Nancy and Kevin Niles will serve as this year’s parade marshals.
The parade kicks off at 2 p.m.
McConnell’s, the newest tenant to sign a lease for Caruso’s Palisades Village, will be handing out scoops of ice cream to the first 500 people who visit their booth at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Swarthmore Avenue, between 12 and 4 p.m.
After that fun wraps up, the next event on the July Fourth schedule is Palisades Rocks the Fourth at Palisades Charter High School.
Doors open at 4 p.m. for food truck fare and performances by opening bands Cohort, Keith Carrington, Phat Trick, Moonlighters and the Pali High School Band. Taking the main stage at 6 p.m. will be The Terraplanes and 2017 Tom Farrell’s Palisades All-Stars, followed by headliner High Tide Rolling Review, featuring Adam Topol, drummer for Jack Johnson, and friends.
And, of course, topping the day off is the annual Fireworks show. The best seats in the house are at Pali High, but the show can be seen from multiple locations around the Palisades, including The Highlands, Sunset Mesa and the top of Lachman Lane.
