On Saturday, September 21, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., community members are invited to join the Palisades-Malibu YMCA for a clean up day at Temescal Gateway Park.
“Not only is it fun in the sun, it’s also meaningful community service that’s Palisades centered,” Jim Kirtley, executive director of Palisades-Malibu YMCA, shared in a statement. “This is a great day to bring your family and friends and enjoy working together to help beautify and give back to the earth that hosts us.”
Saturday is National CleanUp Day with the Y, which, in partnership with Clean Trails, works to enlist volunteers to help clean trails, streets, parks, cities, neighborhoods, beaches, mountains and open spaces across the country.
In the Palisades, community members of all ages are invited to work together and “take part in something great,” Kirtley added. The group will meet at 15551 Sunset Boulevard—located at the corner of Temescal Canyon Road and Sunset Boulevard.
Those who volunteer are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, a hat and sunscreen, as well as bring water to stay hydrated.
