Defending the City championship is the end goal for the Palisades High boys water polo team this fall and to prepare for that challenge Coach Adam Blakis has entered the Dolphins in several tough tournaments.
After opening the season by going 3-2 at the Long Beach Splash in August, Palisades’ varsity placed 10th at the Conejo Classic last weekend in Ventura County.
On Friday, the Dolphins were edged by host Westlake 9-8 but rebounded to rout El Camino Real 18-5.
Calabasas had to forfeit Saturday morning’s eliminator, then Palisades lost 13-9 to Malibu.
The scoring leaders for the Dolphins were Zeke Ramirez, Zach Wunder and Oliver Grant, all of whom played in the USA National Junior Olympics (Ramirez and Wunder for Westside Aquatics and Grant for LA Premier) over the summer.
Palisades’ junior varsity squad also participated in the Conejo Classic and took third place. The Dolphins beat Royal, Alemany and Cleveland in pool play, lost to Rio Mesa in the semifinals and beat Thousand Oaks.
Top scorers for the JV were Cashin Woo, Marc Pryor, Najee Railey and Eli Susman.
Palisades hosted crosstown rival Santa Monica on Wednesday.
