The Palisades High boys tennis team found itself playing an unfamiliar role at last Friday’s CIF Southern California Regionals: the role of underdog.
The Dolphins got seeded fifth in the eight-team Division I bracket and played No. 4 University of Irvine in the first round.
“It was a generous seed,” Pali High Coach Bud Kling said. “We should’ve been seventh or eighth.”
City champion Palisades (22-3) fell 7-0, but Danilo Milic pushed his match at No. 2 singles to three sets and Atticus Parker did the same at the No. 3 spot.
“It’s important for me to win so I can set an example for the team,” Milic said. “If you’re into excuses, tennis isn’t your sport.”
