The drive to The Claremont Club took nearly as long as the Palisades High girls tennis team’s opening match in the Southern California Regional playoffs last Friday. The 24-time City Section champions were swept 7-0 by Campbell Hall, which edged Harvard-Westlake 10-8 to win the CIF Southern Section Division I title a week earlier.
The Dolphins were able to win only 11 games in eight singles sets. Their best chance for a point came at No. 3 doubles, where Alex Miller and Kate Harrington lost 7-5 in the third set.
The City Individual tournament begins Monday at Balboa Tennis Center in Encino. The Dolphins will try to duplicate last season’s “triple crown” by sweeping the team, singles and doubles titles.
