So far this season, the Western League has proven to be no competition for the Palisades High girls varsity volleyball and tennis squads.
After dropping LACES in its league opener Sept. 15, the volleyball team made short work of its next two foes, sweeping Venice, 25-12, 25-14, 25-15, and Hamilton, 25-19, 25-19, 25-14, last week.
Monday’s home match against University and Wednesday’s match at Fairfax were more of the same. Palisades swept University, 25-17, 25-10, 25-14, taking the second set on an ace by Delaney Arth.
The Fairfax match was even more one-sided, with the Dolphins prevailing, 25-6, 25-7, 25-8.
The girls tennis team has been equally dominant. After shutting out LACES 7-0 to open league Sept. 15 and defeating Venice 6-1, they followed last Thursday’s 7-0 win at Hamilton with shutouts of University and Fairfax, winning all seven pro sets 8-0 in each match.
Caroline Goldberg, Morgan Swan, Calypso Peraticos and Caroline Ross played singles and the doubles duos were Madeline Prins–Lizzie Belokonnyi, Sophia Amato–Ireland Amato and Selin Sindel–Taylor Barfield for the road win at Hamilton.
The Dolphins used almost the same lineup against University, with Goldberg playing No. 1 singles, Swan No. 2, Abby Schleichkorn No. 3 and Peraticos No. 4 and the doubles duos of Prins-Belokonnyi, Amato-Amato and Sindel-Barfield.
On Wednesday at Fairfax, Taylor Barfield played No. 1 singles, Maddy Goore played No. 2, Alex Hart played No. 3 and Alex Miller played No. 4 singles. Giovanni Feingold partnered with Caroline Ross to triumph at No. 1 doubles.
