As the Palisades High boys and girls lacrosse teams enter the final month of the regular season it’s all about playoff positioning.
The boys are vying for their fourth straight City title and fifth in six years while the girls are after their first section crown after five straight losses in the finals.
Last Tuesday, the boys routed visiting Hamilton—the team the Dolphins have beaten in the last three City finals—and eliminated the sting of their 16-4 loss at Agoura four days earlier. Back at home Thursday the Dolphins avenged an earlier 12-11 loss to El Camino Real by routing the Conquistadores 14-4.
Coach Kevin Donovan’s team travels to Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences today and travels south to Bellflower to take on undefeated Southern Section power St. John Bosco at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Meanwhile, Katlyne Duffey’s girls squad (10-1) hosts VAAS at 3 today before traveling to Lake Balboa to take on City champion Birmingham next Tuesday in a rematch of the Dolphins’ 13-8 win March 12.
Palisades is 6-0 against City teams. Last week, the Dolphins won 11-7 at Hamilton and beat El Camino Real 12-4. Their only loss was to Mira Costa in overtime.
