For the second straight season the Palisades High girls basketball team is seeded No. 1 in the City Open Division playoffs—and the Dolphins hope it nets the same result it did last winter.
Palisades won the Open title last year after capturing the Division I championship in 2019.
The Dolphins (10-6) host No. 8 Garfield (6-0) in the first round tonight at 7. If victorious, Pali High will host either No. 4 El Camino Real or No. 5 Crenshaw in the semifinals next Wednesday night. Palisades would host the championship game Saturday, June 12 if seedings hold. Birmingham is seeded No. 2 and 2020 finalist Hamilton is No. 3.
Meanwhile the Pali High boys team is seeded fifth in the City Division I draw and travels to No. 4 Gardena in the quarterfinals this Saturday, June 5 at 7 p.m.
Should the Dolphins (3-6) upset the Panthers, they will either host No. 8 Carson or No. 9 Poly or travel to top-seeded Chatsworth next Wednesday night. The finals are Friday, June 11, at the higher seed. Palisades won the title last year.
