The Palisades High girls golf team is making history as it goes this fall, much to the satisfaction of Coach James Paleno, who reinstated the program two years ago.
After winning their first two league matches convincingly, the Dolphins shot their lowest score ever last Friday, carding a collective 242 to take first place for the third week in a row at Penmar.
Sophomore Melanie Matayoshi shot an 8-over par 42, senior Sophia Eberlein fired a 45, freshman Mariana Paleno shot a 48, senior Carly Weitz had a 53, sophomore Abby Brown shot a 54, senior Camila Paleno shot a 56 and freshman Lillia Weismuller fired a 61 for the Dolphins.
University finished second, LACES took third and Venice placed fourth.
Defending league champion Kara Temena of University shot a 1-under par 33 to earn medalist honors for the third straight match.
Palisades, which didn’t notch its first win until its final league match last year, is hoping to qualify for the City Section finals Nov. 2 at Balboa Golf Course.
