Pali High Boys Water Polo Squad Nets Third Place at Conejo Classic

Behind by four goals entering the fourth quarter the situation was grim for the Palisades High boys water team in Saturday’s semifinal game against Malibu at the Conejo Classic in Thousand Oaks.

However, a backhanded spin shot by Oliver Grant—his third goal of the game—tied the contest with 1:58 left and the game eventually went to overtime. The Sharks won on a golden goal by Brandon Alvarez, but Palisades rebounded to rout El Segundo 14-5 to take third place.

The Dolphins (3-2) beat Moorpark 19-6 and Royal 14-8 in pool play to set up the semifinal showdown with Malibu. Palisades hopes for a chance at revenge this weekend when it defends its title at the Malibu Tournament. The Dolphins beat the Sharks 9-6 in the final last year.
