It would’ve been hard to predict the Palisades High boys basketball team would finish fifth at the St. John Bosco Winter Classic last week after the Dolphins’ opening 39-point loss to Long Beach Poly.
However, the team responded with three decisive victories to build confidence and momentum heading into the final 10 games of Western League play.
The Dolphins earned the No. 2 seed in their pool with a 51-35 win against Bishop Amat, routed Gahr 63-37 and wrapped up the tournament with a 67-48 victory over Covina on Saturday.
Guard Nick Kerkorian led the way with 23 points, six assists and five steals, Will Janney added 15 points and Graham Alphson had 13 rebounds versus Gahr.
Kerkorian scored 11 points while Alphson, Caden Arnold and Bowdoin Brazell each scored six against Bishop Amat.
