On Saturday, Sept. 29, Pali Backyard Olympics returned to The Huntington for participants to compete for gold medals and bragging rights in various Olympic-style events to raise money for Palisades Elementary Charter School.
Traditionally taking place in the spring, the 2018 Backyard Olympics were moved up to fall for the fifth and final run.
“We added a few new features this year for the grand finale, such as a vitamin B12 shot bar, as well as a ‘silent disco after party,’” organizer Liz Denham explained to the Palisadian-Post. “Iverbe Sports and Day Camp helped run the games and they knocked it out of the park.”
This year’s events, which were attended by 100 participants, included beer pong, flip cup, bite-a-box, corn-hole and an obstacle course. Each participant went home with a limited edition T-shirt, after dining on tacos, beer and win.
“It was hosted by the Browning, Cacciapaglia, Culp, Denham, Longo, Lucas, Stewart and Williams families who wanted to express their gratitude to all of the Palisades Elementary—and non-Palisades Elementary—participants who have attended and supported our school over the years,” Denham shared.
