The Newcomers and Friends of Pacific Palisades are welcoming new members to participate in events like bridge, Canasta, golfing, hiking, discussions of books and movies, exploring sites in Los Angeles, dining at restaurants, and more.
“Unlike most newcomers groups, this club welcomes Palisadian old-timers—as well as new arrivals—to meet people and share common interests,” a club member explained. “‘Friends’ was added to its name because so many members want to stay in the group.”

The Sprinkle Sisters team—comprised of Palisadian teenagers Ivy Woolenberg and Ella Dorfman—were featured on the second-ever episode of “Disney’s Magic Bake-Off,” an unscripted competitive series, on Friday evening, August 20, and the two won. The show, a creation of Disney Channel and Tastemade, is for participants between the ages of 6 and 14 co-hosted by Dara Reneé and Isaac Ryan Brown.
During a mother-daughter announcement luncheon on Saturday, August 7, several of the ladies who will be participating in this fall’s 69th Coronet Ball gathered and discussed the upcoming event—including several Palisadians.
“Since 1949, the Coronet Ball is a charitable and social event honoring the culmination of years of service of young women who have distinguished themselves through their dedication and commitment to volunteerism in our community,” according to information shared by event organizers. “Each participant was presented with the gold Coronet lavaliere, which they will wear for the first time on a white velvet ribbon at the Coronet Ball on Saturday, November 27, at the California Club in downtown Los Angeles. The gold Coronet medallion is a symbol of family devotion and dedication to the service of others.”
Participating families come from a variety of cities within the county of Los Angeles, as well as Northern California and Minnesota.
