Chabad of Pacific Palisades and Palisades Jewish Early Childhood Center hosted a virtual Tu B’Shvat Night-In with Cheeseboard Creations by Tara at the end of January in honor of the holiday Tu B’Shvat—the New Year for Trees. Each participant received a kit with everything they needed to create a cheeseboard that included some of the biblical fruits of Israel, cheese, crackers and kosher wine.
“We all joined together on Zoom to celebrate the holiday together in a fun, safe and meaningful way,” shared Chabad Program Coordinator Nechama Diskin.
The Newcomers and Friends of Pacific Palisades recently hosted its monthly “Just Coffee” virtual gathering.
“The Newcomers and Friends club consists of having fun through varied activities, which are organized by volunteers,” according to information shared by the club. “Old-timers and newcomers to the Palisades are equally welcome. It’s an easy, pleasant way to meet other Palisadians and make friends. There are no required meetings to attend and no fundraisers, just interesting programs and events.”
Throughout the pandemic, the club has offered online programming, including Just Coffee, book and movie discussions, Duplicate Bridge, Canasta, Scrabble, and more. The Explorers Group will resume visiting places of interest, but for now remains virtual.

Las Madrinas presented Dr. Mark Krieger, surgeon-in-chief and director of Neurological Institute, with a contribution to The Las Madrinas Endowment for the Chief of Neurology Chair and the Neurological Institute Epilepsy Program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on behalf of the members of the organization during its annual meeting, held virtually on February 10.
The group also elected its Board of Directors for 2021, including Ball Chairman Lisa Goldman of Pacific Palisades.
“Las Madrinas is grateful for the continued support and generosity of its members, debutante families and friends who allowed us to make this significant gift despite the postponement of the 2020 Las Madrinas Ball during this unprecedented time,” according to a press release from the organization.
