Crayon Collection, a nonprofit founded by Palisadian Sheila Morovati that collects and donates gently used crayons to teachers, hosted its fifth annual Arts & Education Luncheon at Nobu in Malibu. More than 100 people attended the luncheon, which honored Viola Raikhel-Bolot who shared about her efforts to find a partner organization to take the program to Sydney. Crayon Collection has so far collected 14 million crayons, which have been given to 2,500 schools and helped 45,000 students.
Palisades Charter High School science teacher Alice Kim presented a summary of the stewardship projects that her students implemented this semester. Her presentation was made at the Environmental Teacher Institute held, hosted and co-sponsored by LADWP. Projects covered such topics as water pollution, plastic pollution, water recycling and water conservation.
