Last month, Canyon Charter Elementary School hosted its annual Olympics Day, which the school called “a smashing success.” “You guys ran your hearts out,” the Olympics Day Committee reported. “You wowed us … and you wowed our celebrity Olympian who commented on what amazing kids you all are.”

Palisades Charter High School sophomore Sophia Arvin was recently honored by the Rotary Club with the Community Service Student of the Month award for her work teaching piano to young students over the course of six months as part of her Gold Project for Girl Scout Troop 12815. Palisades Charter High School student Roberta Alaman has been named a 2018 National YoungArts Foundation winner in Voice Popular. Alaman will receive a cash prize of $10,000 and is eligible to participate in YoungArts’ regional programs, including YoungArts Los Angeles in March 2018.
