Parents of Marquez Charter Elementary joined Principal LaTanya Reeves at K Bakery in the Highlands for a “Coffee with the Principal” event on Friday, April 22.
“I am grateful for the support from Friends of Marquez that helped us establish a community partnership with K Bakery in Pacific Palisades as the host location for parents to meet and collaborate in person,” Reeves said to the Palisadian-Post. “It is important to meet the social-emotional needs of our parents and community by giving them opportunities to engage and connect with their child’s principal while remaining compliant to LAUSD safety policies and guidelines.”
She said the event was well-attended by approximately 20 parents at K Bakery’s outdoor patio where they enjoyed K Bakery’s coffee during the meeting.
Chrysalis raised $175,000 at its Go All In Poker Night on Thursday, April 21, at Fairmont Century Plaza.
“I have been deeply involved with Chrysalis for the past 20 years and have personally witnessed so many lives forever changed by the stellar and consistently effective work they do,” Palisadian and Chrysalis Board Member Karen Murphy O’Brien said. “It was exhilarating to see so many friends and loyal supporters venture out in person to ‘go all in for Chrysalis’ at our fifth annual poker event.
“The [funds] raised will go a long way toward helping clients overcome the many barriers to employment as homelessness continues to be an ongoing cataclysmic crisis throughout our Southern California communities.”
