It has not taken long for Jane Nwaba to adjust to the speed, skill and physicality of the college game.
In March, she earned City Player of the Year honors after leading the Palisades High girls basketball team to the City Open Division title and the CIF SoCal Regional Division II championship. Now, she is enjoying a fast start to her career at Pepperdine University in Malibu.
Through five games the Waves’ freshman forward has played 102 minutes and she is averaging 6.2 points and 6.2 rebounds with five steals and seven assists.
On Monday she played 26 minutes, went four of five from the field and scored eight points with six rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 74-63 home defeat to Portland.
Nwaba played in three section finals in four seasons at Palisades (winning two) and won the Post Cup Award in June as the school’s outstanding senior athlete.
