Nina Ernst Luce passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Beatrice and Robert Ernst. She is survived, loved and will be greatly missed by her beloved husband of 52 years, David W. Luce, daughters and son-in-law, Michelle Luce and Rebecca (Alex) James, and grandchildren, Jeremiah, Abigail, and Isabella. She also is survived by her sister, Olivia Neece.
Nina was born in Los Angeles, California, and was always proud to be an LA native. She grew up in West Adams and then Brentwood. She moved to Pacific Palisades in 1971 with David and loved being a part of the community ever since.
She enjoyed attending shows at the local Theatre Palisades, taking art and tennis classes at Rustic Canyon Park, supporting the local library, theatre, and Palisades PRIDE. She was in the first graduating class at Paul Revere and then went on to University High as Pali High did not yet exist. She was in the first graduating nursing class at Cal State LA where she obtained her BSN, and later she received her master’s in public health from Cal State LA while dating David.
During her nursing career she discovered her love for and gift in counseling, and returned to school at Pepperdine University where she received her master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. She was a passionate therapist for the past 33 years and helped countless people improve their well-being.
Nina also loved tending to her orchids and array of flower beds, painting, baking, and spending quality time with friends and family. Nina was a tenacious, passionate, adventurous, creative, loving and incredibly generous person who has been an inspiration and support to many. Her fun-loving essence was infectious to all who knew her. She is deeply missed.
