Aman suspected of a deadly hit-and-run was arrested on Saturday after he led police on a lengthy pursuit that ended in Pacific Palisades.
The man, identified as Mark Christian Johnson, fled from an intersection in North Hills in the dark morning hours on Saturday, July 30, after allegedly hitting a pedestrian as he crossed the road.
Soon police noticed a Toyota Prius driving “recklessly” and began the pursuit that seemed strangely reminiscent of a recent Super Bowl commercial involving a police pursuit and a Prius.
The over 20-mile chase came to an end when Johnson collided with a parking pillar near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Porto Marina Way in Castellammare.
Johnson was arrested by LAPD Valley Traffic Division for evading police and additional charges for the hit-and-run are expected to be added soon.
The pedestrian Johnson allegedly hit died at the scene. He has been identified as José Serrano.
