It was standing room only at the Bel Air Bay Club on Thursday, April 27 for the installation ceremony of Pacific Palisades’ new postmaster, Ayesha Denson.
Friends and family of Denson travelled from all over the country to watch as she took the oath to serve in the postmaster position.
Denson’s immediate family each played a role in the ceremony’s agenda—her son led the Pledge of Allegiance, her daughter sang the “Black National Anthem” and her mother gave the invocation. Various remarks followed from former supervisors, coworkers and the Los Angeles District Manager for the United States Postal Service, Alfred Santos Jr.
Santos gave a history of the postmaster position and listed the well-known people who have held the title, including Benjamin Franklin as the first postmaster appointed by Congress. Denson’s hardworking and positive attitude was also consistently praised through the various remarks and each affirmed she would step into the postmaster role with determination.
Before a sunlit ocean view, Denson took the postal service oath and became the thirteenth postmaster of the Palisades. Denson closed the ceremony with a few remarks and reminded the audience of her personal motto, “Dream big, be bold.”
