Celebrating 40 Years | The Village
On August 24 and 25, Gelson’s Pacific Palisades will celebrate its 40-year anniversary.
“We went out of our way to earn the confidence of the community, and they have remained loyal to their ‘local Gelson’s,’” recalled Donna Tyndall, who worked at the Palisades store back then and now serves as senior vice president, operations at Gelson’s Encino headquarters in a press release. “Many have been shopping here for decades, and many new customers are won over by our exceptional quality and service.”
Promotions include 30% off wine, beer and spirits, samples from Gelson’s Grill and other areas, free groceries (one winner selected every hour) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and
anniversary cake.

Stop Senior Scams | Upper El Medio
Leiuana Anderson and Carmen Dixon—both Seniors Real Estate Specialists Realtors—have sponsored Pacific Palisades Senior Workshops, which will kick off on Thursday, August 22, with “Stop Senior Scams!”
The program will feature representatives from Medicare and the California State Licensing Board. The free event, which will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Palisades Lutheran Church, will also offer refreshments and prizes, including a Ring alarm.

Deadline Approaching | Pacific Palisades
The deadline for the Friends of the Palisades Library summer writing contest is September 3.
The contest is open to children and teens entering grades one through 12, and the theme is “Palisades Tales: From the Mountains to the Sea.” Three winners in five age categories will be awarded gift certificates to DIESEL, A Bookstore.
“All entries must be set in the Palisades,” according to a press release. “They can be fiction or true adventures.”
An awards ceremony and performance of the winning stories will take place on Wednesday, October 2, at 4 p.m.

Movie Night Special | Palisades Village
The Draycott has launched a Movie Night Special where if guests show a movie ticket stub from the Bay Theatre by Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas, they get 10% off their pre- or post-movie cocktails, snacks or dinner.
Restaurant co-owner Marissa Hermer explained the team launched the promotion to celebrate “all the Academy Awards films that will be coming out in the fall.”
