Country Club Fire | The Riviera

At approximately 6:50 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, Los Angeles Fire Department Station 19 responded to a fire on the second floor of The Riviera Country Club at 1250 Capri Drive in Pacific Palisades.

“With the potential for the fire to run up the walls and into the attic, firefighters aggressively attacked the seat of the fire for a rapid knockdown, confining the fire to the original location,” according to LAFD spokesperson Kenneth Williams.

There were no reported injuries.

Marine Activity Off GladstonesCastellammare

The Palisadian-Post has received inquiries as to why there is a barge a few miles off Sunset and PCH. On Tuesday, Oct. 30, a representative from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power clarified in email correspondence with the Post, “The Pacific DC Intertie is a project within the Power System Reliability Program, which addresses the problem of aging infrastructure in LADWP’s power system.”

They added that the PCDI went into service in 1970 and its connection points include the Sylmar Ground Return System, of which one end goes through an underground vault in Pacific Palisades.

“Infrastructure improvements to the [now] 3,220-megawatt line began in 2015 and will increase reliability,” according to LADWP. “Infrastructure improvements will continue [periodically] through 2019.”
