Decline in Traffic Incidences | Pacific Palisades
At the latest Pacific Palisades Community Council Meeting, officer Tony Perez from the West Los Angeles Traffic Division reported that traffic incidents are down from 2017.
The following statistics were given: Total traffic collisions: 3 percent, injury collisions: 11 percent, fatality: 50 percent, DUI: 15 percent, hit and run: 17 percent, vehicle vs. pedestrian: 7 percent.
West Traffic Division Commanding Officer Gary W. Walters notes on the website that the greatest risk intersection for motor vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles in West LA is Santa Monica and Westwood. In the Palisades specifically, the intersection at Chautauqua Boulevard and PCH is frequently the scene of road accidents.

Local Emmy Winners | Pacific Palisades
A 2018 Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards ceremony took place on July 28, and two Palisadians were among the winners: Larry and Tyler Newman, who won in the Children/Youth Programming category for producing the short documentary “Making Music, Making Friends,” which follows the musical activities of elementary school
students.

Identification of Deceased Male | Malibu
A deceased male who was found near Piuma Road in the Santa Monica Mountains on Friday, July 27, has been identified by the Los Angeles Medical Coroner as 19-year-old Roger Chavez Barahona. He died from multiple gunshot wounds and was in the early stages of decomposition when his remains were found.

PPDC Marches | Pacific Palisades
The Pacific Palisades Democratic Club helped organize an anti-NRA march and rally in Brea, California, on Saturday, Aug. 4. Local congressional candidates and over 100 people showed up to protest gun violence and demand gun law reform.
The march remained peaceful, despite several NRA and pro-gun supporters that counterprotested the group.
