Pacific Palisades Centennial Celebration Postponed, Centennial Publication In the Works | Pacific Palisades
The Pacific Palisades Historical Society announced that due to COVID-19 concerns, the Centennial Anniversary Celebration—originally slated for Saturday, January 15—has been postponed. The organization is now eyeing a celebration in the spring.
“The health and wellbeing of our fellow Palisadians has always been paramount in our planning and this is why the Pacific Palisades Historical Society has decided to reschedule the Centennial event in spring,” according to the group’s website. “We hope by then we will be safer, and a bit warmer, as we gather at Simon Meadow in Temescal Gateway Park for a grand celebration.”
As an effort to still commemorate the history of the Palisades, the PPHS will be publishing a Centennial Publication, complete with historic photos and articles “from its founding as a modest, Methodist Community to its Post-World War II boom.”
“The Palisades became known for its safe, family-oriented neighborhoods, celebrity residents, lively Village business community, excellent schools, the Pacific Ocean and as a gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains—where the mountains meet the sea,” according to the PPHS website.
The publication will be produced and distributed this month for free to every resident in the Palisades.

Resilient Palisades on ‘Banking and the Climate Crisis’ | Pacific Palisades
Resilient Palisades will be “Addressing the Root Problem of Climate Change,” with Jim Thompson, founder of THIS! Is What We Did, via Zoom on Monday, January 24.
Thompson is slated to discuss the “Three Stories of Climate Change” and the “Three Flows of Money” that “must be interrupted for our descendants to have a chance for a decent life.”
He will also discuss why banks are a key leverage point and how Palisadians can move their money from “climate-bad banks.”
“Humanity’s response to the climate crisis … will require solidarity, which he calls our superpower. This presentation confronts the brutal facts of the situation we are in but provides practical ways we can make a difference,” according to Resilient Palisades.
