Two Victims Injured in Shooting | Pacific Coast Highway
Los Angeles Police Department Officer Brian Espin, acting senior lead officer for Pacific Palisades, reported that Pacific Division received information about a possible shooting that occurred around 2 a.m. on Monday, July 5.
“West LA officers responded to UCLA Hospital to check on potential victims,” Espin wrote. “After questioning a shooting victim at the hospital, it was determined a shooting occurred on PCH south of Sunset. No calls for service were generated for the shooting incident on PCH.”
Espin explained that the victims were hanging out on the beach and after words were exchanged, a physical alternation occurred.
“After the altercation, the suspect(s) returned from their vehicle and a shooting occurred,” Espin said. “Two victims were hit in the leg. Victims transported themselves to the hospital. Suspect(s) fled in a BMW (dark colored).”
Espin said the shooting is an isolated incident that is being investigated by West LA Detectives.

‘Toby Salkin: Unleashed’ | Topanga
Topanga Canyon Gallery will host an art show by Toby Salkin titled “Unleashed” between July 9 and July 25, with a free reception taking place on July 10 between 4 and 7 p.m.
“Toby Salkin is known for her bright expressionist paintings, giving a distinct colorful spin to subjects ranging from celebrity portraits, local streetscapes and whimsical still-lifes,” according to a press release about the exhibition. “Salkin’s latest evolution started in her sleep when she dreamed she was creating collages and abstract paintings. The next morning she mounted a large canvas on her easel and began assembling the first in a series of works that use time, cubism, Rothko-influenced motifs (with a twist)—and her trademark applications of gold and silver leaf—to conjure worlds gone by and yet to come.”
The gallery is open between 12 and 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, with private viewings able to be arranged by calling 818-458-0303.
