Virtual 5K Hunger Walk | Pacific Palisades
Palisadians are invited to join Westside Food Bank for its 30th Annual (Virtual) 5K Hunger Walk anytime between November 8 and 15.
“Your participation will help Westside Food Bank provide food for thousands of families in the year ahead,” an event organizer wrote. “Westside Food Bank’s 5K Hunger Walk is virtual this year, but for the tens of thousands more people in our community suffering due to COVID-19, hunger has never been more real.”
There is no registration fees or minimum fundraising amount required, but every dollar raised will provide four meals. Prizes and awards will be given out, and student walkers can receive four hours of community service for participating.

Debris Basin Cleaning | The Highlands
Councilmember Mike Bonin reported that ahead of Los Angeles’ rainy season, LA Sanitation and Environment crews are beginning work to prepare, according to information shared by Pacific Palisades Community Council.
“Recently, a crew cleaned a debris basin on Palisades—one of 70 such basins in the city of Los Angeles that catch the sediment, gravel, boulders and vegetative debris that are washed out of the canyons during storms,” the report continued. “Cleaning basins regularly prevent trash from flowing into our watersheds and neighborhood floods.”
Clogged catch and debris basins and storm drains can be reported by calling LASAN’s 24-hour customer care center at 800-773-2489.
