Hiker Rescue | Castellammare
Los Angeles Fire Department Air Ops performed a hoist operation for a hiker with a medical problem near the 500 block of North Los Liones Drive on Thursday, August 27, at approximately 2:30 p.m.
“As of now, firefighter-paramedics plan to transport the patient to the hospital by ground, after the helicopter relocates the patient to where the ambulance can access,” Nicholas Prange with LAFD reported at the time.

Blood Drive | Pacific Palisades
The American Legion Ronald Reagan – Palisades Post 283 will host two community blood drives with the American Red Cross: Tuesday, September 15, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, September 25, from 1 to 7 p.m.
“Summer can be a difficult time to collect enough blood to meet patient needs,” according to a flier about the upcoming drives. “Your donation can help save up to three lives.”
To ensure social distancing, the two drives will be by appointment only, which can be made at redcrossblood.org with using the sponsor code Post283. Appointments can also be made by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
Both drives will take place at 15247 La Cruz Drive. Those donating are encouraged to eat a well-balanced meal and must bring a photo ID.

Virtual Coding Club | Palisades Branch Library
Students in sixth through 12th grade throughout Pacific Palisades are invited to join the Silver Lake Branch Library’s Girls Who Code Virtual Coding Club—which, despite the name, is open to boys as well, according to Palisades Branch Library YA Librarian Jessica Levy.
New meet-ups begin September 10 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. via Zoom. No prior experience is necessary.

Hank’s Adds Weekend Brunch | Palisades Village
Hank’s at Palisades Village will now be open for brunch on the weekends.
“Every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., guests can enjoy brunch favorites at the ultimate neighborhood joint for friends and families like Carpinteria Avocado Toast, Hank’s Buttermilk Pancakes, The Vegan Scramble, and many other delicious breakfast- and lunch-style offerings,” a press release reported.
Hank’s has implemented changes to its outdoor dining area, including contactless menus via QR code (with single-use paper menus available upon request), contactless payment via QR code and expanded outdoor seating.
