St. Matthew’s Music Guild has revealed its 2022-23 season, which features seven concerts and kicks off in Pacific Palisades on October 14.
“The series will feature an array of internationally acclaimed artists and world premiere performances of new works by Richard Danielpour, David Conte and Dante De Silva,” according to a statement shared by Music Guild. “Featured soloists include Boris Allekhverdyan, Movses Pogossian, Inna Faliks and David Kapan. The Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s, now in its 38th year and under the direction of Dwayne S. Milburn, will headline five concerts along with a solo piano recital and choral concert.”
The concert on October 14 will include a return visit by violinist Pogossian in the “Violin Concerto” by Samuel Barber.
“Pogossian, professor of violin at UCLA, made his American debut performing the Tchaikovsky ‘Concerto’ with the Boston Pops in 1990,” the statement continued. “He regularly performs with orchestras throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.”
On November 11, Allekhverdyan, principal clarinet of Los Angeles Philharmonic, will join the orchestra for the world premiere of Danielpour’s “Four Angels,” which is a Music Guild commission.
The annual holiday concert will take place on December 9, featuring “Winter” from Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons,” Georg Philipp Telemann’s “Overture des nations aciens et modernes” and the “Magnificat” of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.
Looking forward to 2023, the season will be rounded out with concerts scheduled for February 10, March 24, April 28 and June 2.
“Thanks to your steadfast support during the extraordinarily difficult past couple of years, the Music Guild continued to make a dynamic and fulfilling contribution to the rich musical landscape of the greater Los Angeles area,” Milburn shared in a statement. “Our coming season is no exception.”
Season passes are available starting at $200, with individual tickets priced at $35. All concerts will take place at St. Matthew’s Church, which is located at 1031 Bienveneda Avenue.
