Movies in the Park (MITP) will again showcase a family friendly movie every Saturday in August on a giant screen on the Field of Dreams at the Palisades Recreation Center.
The tenth season will open with “Pirates of the Caribbean” on August 3, followed by “Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax” (August 10); “Freaky Friday,” starring Palisadian Jamie Lee Curtis (August 17); the original “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” (August 24); and “ET the Extra Terrestrial” (August 31).
Since admission is free, the MITP committee relies on community donations to run the event.
“Director” sponsors are Botham Plumbing & Heating; Dan Urbach Real Estate; Gelson’s The Super Market; Kehillat Israel; Nasreen Babu-Khan, M.D.; Pacific Palisades Baseball Association; The Yogurt Shoppe; Maria Elena Tapia, D.D.S.; Spectrum Club; and Groza Learning Center.
Donors are American Legion Post 283, Art Detman, Cheryel Kanan, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Lee, Amazing Music Store, Ninkey Dalton and Richard and Roberta Donohue.
Individual movie sponsors are Café Vida (“Pirates of the Caribbean”); Emma Kim, D.M.D. (“Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax”), Huntington Palisades Property Owners Corporation (“Freaky Friday”) and Marquez Knolls Property Owners Association. (“E.T.”). A sponsor is still sought for “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.”
