Former Palisades High baseball player Jon Moscot, now a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds, underwent Tommy John surgery July 19 to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament and will miss the remainder of the 2016 season.
Moscot was previously on the roster with Triple-A Louisville and was placed on the minor league disabled list July 5 with an elbow problem. He had a delayed start to the season due to an intercostal strain suffered in spring training, and also spent time on the disabled list due to soreness in his surgically repaired non-throwing shoulder. He compiled an 8.02 earned run average in the majors.
Moscot won the Post Cup Award as Pali High’s outstanding senior athlete in 2009, then played at Cuesta College and Pepperdine. He earned his first MLB win on June 10, 2015, allowing six hits over six innings in a 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
