Palisades High junior Max Fields finished 15th with a time of 15:29.8 in the Division I boys race at the CIF state cross country finals on Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno. The two-time City champion was 38 seconds behind winner Matthew Donis of Palmdale Highland. In the team standings Palisades was 17th out of 21 teams.
Senior Ava Baak was the Dolphins’ top finisher in the Division I girls race, placing 117th in 20:27.8. Tessa Buswell of Poway won in 17:25.0. In the team standings, Palisades was last out of 21 teams.
Palisades’ boys won the City championship while the girls finished second to Granada Hills a week before in Woodland Hills when Fields clocked 15:08.9 to claim his second consecutive title.
