Palisadian Cari Klein has had many elite teams in her tenure as head coach of the Marymount High volleyball program, but this year’s squad night prove to be her best yet. The Sailors began the week 28-0 and ranked No. 1 in the nation by MaxPreps, paced by the devastating one-two punch of Palisadians Kerry Keefe and Elia Rubin.
Marymount has dropped only six of 77 sets played, including sweeps in all but two of its matches in Mission League play. The Sailors won the Durango Fall Classic in Las Vegas on September 18; the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix on Oct.2; and GEICO Invitational, also in Arizona, on Oct. 9. Rubin, a senior captain, has led the way with 250 kills (4.5 per set), 33 aces, 24 blocks and 144 digs while Keefe has added 90 kills, 15 aces, 29 blocks and 30 digs through 28 matches.
